    1gb 128 bit vs 512 mb 256 bit gpu's

okay..i know i can probably search and find this...but i want true life answers and maybe different experiences

what are the pros and cons of both? or does the up and downs kind of even them out?

     i was looking at maybe gettin a lower end card...like a 4650 1gb 128-bit....instead of a 4850 512mb 256 bit.

its cheaper and im sure for my gaming needs it will be perfectly suitable..

just some intel from you guys would be nice

The 256bit will yield better results. 4850 is an awesome way to go, don't even consider 4650.

    Re: 1gb 128 bit vs 512 mb 256 bit gpu's

If you are running a very large monitor the extra memory will help you out. (30 inch monitor or larger) but if your on a normal size monitor, go with the 256 bit memory as it is ALLOT faster and on a monitor that is smaller than 30 inches any more than 512 of video memory would be wasted.

Looks like for your budget the 4830 256bit 512mb is ideal for you, great little card, i used it in my buddies build and it was very surprised at the performance. It really is a steal at $99 after $20 mail in rebate....

thanks above for the clarification on monitor size...i only have a 22" :(

and yes im thinkin the 4830 will be the right card after all....even tho i liked the 4670 initially

i just plan on buyin a 50 lcd on black friday so i need to have cash money for that purpose...but i still will be purchasing computer parts so hopefully i will get some deals on that too

    ....

128 bit 1GB = more textures, less speed

256 bit 512mb = more speed less textures

256 bit 512mb is always your best bet

22' monitor should be fine with 512MB video memory.

1GB video memory with 128bit? funny combination.
