TV Tuner Card won't fit the PCI-e x1 location

I'm ordering components for a desktop/pvr system.  I'll be installing an Hauppage TV tuner card which requires a PCI-e x1 slot.  The mobo that seems to fit all of my needs is the ASRock A780GXE.  The problem is that the PCI-e x1 slot is located in front of a tall heat sink.  Can the tuner card be installed in the one of the adjacent PCI-e 2.0 x16 slots that are more open?

    It should work.

AsRock really isn't the best board maker anyway, I'd keep looking.

Also if you can't get it to work, you could always replace the heatsink with an aftermarket one with a fan, that might get you the clearence you need to use the PCIe 1x slot.

GmsCool, thanks for the opinion and response.  I think you're right about the board.  Not many reviews to base purchase on.  There is an ASUS board with the 790 chipset with a more open pci-e x1 slot.  Since I'm a rookie builder, I'll take your advice and go in a different directin.
