Star [*] Which printer gives the most color pages per ink?

I want to buy a new printer. I usually stick with Canon so.. my choice would be Pixma 4500($130).

What I need is that I print many pictures, usually for backud up dvd movies or family stuff and I put them for the front side of disk case.

With my last printer all I got, was $50 for original ink and 50 pages of photo-pictures. So it is a dollar for page.

Which printer would print more color pages per ink?

I can spend about $100-$200 but I can save enough for more expencive one depend on how many printed pages can I get from it.

What can You choose for me?

    By the way, guys

Where can I get something called refill kit with inks and syringe and stuff to refill cartridge by myself? I can't find it at Newegg.com

Is it really cheap and economic/safe thing to do ?

Re: Which printer gives the most color pages per i

I recommend the Canon line that uses individual ink cartridges.  The problem with their new printers is the cartridges are much smaller than the previous models.  I would make sure and get the last model that uses the CLI-8 cartridges as they can be easily refilled and there are some decent chip resetters sold for them.  Another route is to search Craigs List and ebay for an older Canon printer that uses BCI-6 cartridges.  I have gone this way because I can get very good after market cartridges for $1.59 each and they have no chips in them to worry about.  Even if I have to replace a print head every so often the cost savings on ink is more than worth the price of a new head.  Also, for refilling, this site is a wealth of knowledge:  http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/  Refilling is very easy unless you are all thumbs.
