Looking to upgrade my video card, requires AGP

I have an old Dell that I need to replace the video card on, seeing as I like to play games on my machine and the games that have come out lately are becoming a bit too much for my old card. My machine is a Dell Dimension 4600.

Since my machine will only accept AGP cards I know my options are limited, but what other criteria should I be looking for to help ensure my new card will be compatible with my machine?  Will any card work so long as it's an AGP card?  Also if anyone can suggest a video card I should consider choosing that would be awesome.  Thanks.

I would highly suggest you stretch your budget and get the best AGP card out right now. Just make sure you have a power supply to handle it.

Re: Looking to upgrade my video card, requires AGP

If it makes more sense to go over my budget a bit I'm ok with that, I'm mostly concerned with making sure I understand the requirements for the card to work with my system.  Am I right in thinking that as long as the card is AGP it will work (power supply and fitting in my box aside)?

Thank you by the way for the fast response.

Yes, it'll work. Just make sure that PSU will handle it and that it fits into the case.

Thank you for the information.  I'm not familiar with power supplies.  How do I find out what my power supply is and what is needed to run a new card, like the one you linked for instance.  I looked at the specifications for the card you linked but I didn't see anything about what kind of power supply it requires, not really sure where to find this information.  Sorry for all the questions, and thanks so much for your help.

here ya go bro  http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=227&grp=2   you gona need a 450 watt PSU with a +12v rail @30 amp

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Re: Looking to upgrade my video card, requires AGP

Your PSU is 250W. That really sucks since most of the higher end AGP video cards will not work with it.

You can double check this by opening your case and checking the side of the PSU for wattage.
