Anyone had an experience in using copper paint for modding? I was thinking of using it on any number of things - from cables to aluminum heatsinks or other metal parts. I have tried Rustoleum and Krylon copper mettalic in spray cans, but the results are weak, both in color and in evenness (the latter probably could be fixed by using the paint in a good quality compressed air sprayer. I have also found an interesting copper paint called RoofDX which is used for covering repairs to copper roofs. It actually contains 2 pounds of copper dust per gallon. It doesn't paint very evenly with an artist's brush, but the color is great. My first attempt at spraying it wasn't successful, as I think it is just too thick, so I am going to cut it with thinner and try that, using several coats. This paint will actually tarnish, so it must also be clear coated. In any event, I am concerned that I don't reduce the heat transference of anything critically. And you can't use this paint on cables that might brush up against another conductive part, unless you are confident of the clearcoat.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
