Need a new printer - Any suggestions?

I don't print too much... it'll be used in my office at home (I work from home).

Needs to be color (obviously!), and be able to print fast. Also, cartridge longevity is a concern, as I hate having to take trips to the store to get more, or order them all the time.

    What do you suggest?

You'd be better off spending a little more and getting a laser printer. It'll last longer, will print more pages per cartridge, and the ink will not dry out.

Once I bought a laser printer I could never go back to printing documents with ink.

IMO the perfect setup is a laser printer for documents and and an inkjet for photos. Printing photos on a laser printer or documents on an inkjet is pretty much fail IMO.

If you must have just a single inkjet there is really not much different between them. Inkjets haven't really changed much in over 10 years. Pretty much anything from HP or Canon in your price range is gonna be a good product. Only differences are mostly in the little extras, like whether it has a little LCD screen attached or if it has a card reader, etc.

Today you can get a whole lot of printer for very cheap even a combo one that prints, scans, copys, etc. The MFR's make their money by selling you the ink.

And especially for inkjets, don't plan on it lasting longer than the warranty. Not to say it will fail, but I've seen so many inkjet printers start eating/mangling paper, or have other print head or physical alignment problems. Laser printers generally last longer. I'm just saying don't spend $300 on a photo printer assuming it'll last you 5 years, you may get disappointed. Or if you must, this is one of very few products I recommend an extended warranty on.
