Report - Poor Product Description: Koutech

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812240008

I've been looking for an IDE to firewire adpater, so that I can test hard drives on the workbench and not have to open the case of my desktop (on the floor) in order to cable them in.

I can't say for certain if this thing will do what I want.  It gives no real information on what it's purpose is, and how it works.  My assumption is that the IDE socket would mate with the pins on the back of a Hard Drive, but cannot be certain.  A photo showing how it works would have been very useful.

Also, there is a floppy-drive style power connector on the PC board.  Is this an "in" or an "out" ?  And what looks like a DC power jack.  Does it need DC power to work ?  Does a AC/DC power converter come with ?  If not, what voltage does it need ?  How long am I supposed to think about and research these questions before I just move on to a product made by a company that does a better job of describing it ?

Understand, the only people that don't need a full description would be people that either already own one or know someone that does.  This product isn't being sold anywhere else (online) so I would think that "Koutech" would be interested in informing potential customers about what their product does, and how.  Or, I suppose, I could continue on with my search and settle for a more-expensive enclosure, or perhaps there is another IDE to firewire adapter listed on NewEgg (I don't buy anywhere else) that is more adequately described.

Also note the COMPLETE absence of ANY reviews.  Maybe this is because NO ONE is buying the thing.  Perhaps the reason is OBVIOUS.

I'm thinking, if average Users can find the time & energy to write reviews of products (for no financial gain), the least KOUTECH could do is describe their product adequately.  Perhaps they are waiting for their future customers to write reviews on the product, and do their work for them.

Note:  After I found the sub-forum on "Forum Suggestions", I went back to this post trying to find a button for a Forum Moderator or Admin to move the thread to a more appropriate location.  I put more effort into looking for it than the price I was being paid (nothing) was worth, so I quit and decided to let you do your jobs rather than doing it for free.

However, I don't like doing things for free for very long when I have no hope of ever getting anything substantive in return for my efforts.  If we are paying Forum Staff, and Programmers to provide, adapt and create it, doesn't it make sense that they should be doing the job, instead of informed and intelligent volunteers ?

I resent spending time on sub-standard forums.  If it's true for me, it's true for others, and, I suspect the "others" are the very people you are looking for.

This "other" would like buttons to message Forum Staff in an easy-to-find and intuitive placement, so that if in the event a poor post placement choice is made, it can be fixed with a minimum of effort.  I expect this in certain forums.  Tech Support Forum being at the top of the list.  There are other cultures & colors, etc... but they all make the statement that there are certain standards that are expected to be achieved and maintained in order to create the certain feeling of "welcomeness" that certain kinds of people need in order to participate.
