Now hold on a minute. Nobody said the fact that Newegg charges for shipping makes them bad. The fact is, though, you either have the choice of paying quite a bit for shipping or go with some lower quality and slower options. Sure, the latter may work sometimes, or for some people, but since switching to UPS as their "standard option" provider, the satisfaction seems to have gone down some, and with prices where they are, even more so. Considering shipping has always been a strength of Newegg, that hurts them (personally, I still shop here for their biggest strength, which is their customer relations, because really, they're probably within the top 1% of being the best in that area). Anyway, nobody said anything against Newegg being bad for charging shipping, but, the idea has some merit. The idea, from a business perspective, is that cheaper or free shipping will draw more customers, or in other words, that what it adds (the extra customers) cover what is costs (the shipping Newegg has to pay themselves), and draws them more customers (more profit for Newegg). It's taking the hit up front to make the profit behind. I'm no business expert, but that's the basics, and considering the idea of Black Friday itself is the same thing (use lower prices to draw more customers), this very well is a good idea, and if Newegg did $1 shipping on everything a few years back as was said, I don't think free shipping on everything only over a certain amount is beyond possible.
