    sbc dsl

    everything works fine with windows xp new system built with vista  i am using a 2wire homeportal 1800hg  it needs a new driver that is supported by vista anyone have a suggestion as to where I can get one 2wire.com dosn't even talk vista

    You shouldn't need a driver for the 2wire router. If it is already configured, you should be able to plug your network cable into it, it will issue an ip, then you can get on the internet.

    If it isn't configured, you can log into it through a browser. I had one a few years back. I think it was http://gateway.2wire.

    Agreed.

    Log into the Router with one of your XP machines and turn-on UPnP, then try the Vista PC.

    att tech either couldn't or wouldn't tell me that I could not connect via usb ports to my 2wire home portal  now using vista instead of xp .they would just tell me to contact their e store to purchase a new modem and router. after some search for drivers I just decided to get a $17.00 ethernet card and connect that way. simple fix and really easy. sure would like to take the time to thank att for all their free teck support which amonted to nothing makes me happy each month to pay thier bill
