Bodyslide--that's great to hear! Hope you guys will enjoy the jump to HDTV! :D (now all you need is a blueray dvd player to go wtih it... hmm, I wonder what we've got brewing as far as blueray goes on Black Friday... hehehe...)

LeonTP--if you want an HDTV, this actually is the lowest price we're gonna have (for that big a screen), according to the product guy in charge of TVs. But if you're holding out for the notebooks and stuff (not to mention one INSANELY cheap flash drive...but I can't say anymore than that, mwa ha ha), yeah, wait for Black Friday. ^__~

    Re: 111308 OMG! $499.99 42” LCD HDTV?!

Its not true HD TV.  Read the fine print!!!  It is 720p.  1080p is the standard for true high definition TV.  Also ALWAYS see the the image on the unit BEFORE you buy a new TV.  The same image can be COMPLETELEY differrent on two different TV's with the exact same specifications!!!  This is becuase of several factors, including the manufacting process, the international specification requirment guildlines, and other factors.

    Re: 111308 OMG! $499.99 42” LCD HDTV?!

Not 1080p, but on the other hand, this would make an excellent monitor for a decently driven computer.  I have a 37" 1080i lcd and have found that the ideal desktop resolution is 1366 x 768, which this tv supports.  That's a few more pixels than 720p, if I'm correct.  And 720p is still hd, just not near the best.

I took a gamble by not seeing my lcd in person and have not had any regrets in almost two years of use.  Granted, I sought ample reviews first.

When I play games at 1280x768 (which this screen could handle) there's surprisingly little quality difference between it and, say, a PS3 on a Toshiba 1080p.

This is perfect for a super-sized media/gaming monitor, I say.

Oh, and if you do go this route, be sure to go DVI to HDMI (and don't pay over $15ish for the cable).  And come on, don't use the built-in speakers! Gotta have at least 5.1!

Well this simply isn't the right TV I've been waiting for, which is why I'm not jumping on this. It's a very good deal, but not what I'm looking for.

Might be interested in the notebooks, we'll have to see...

If they've still got that 37" Westinghouse 1080p, that was a pretty good deal.  $600, I think.  But you may be looking larger. ;)

Got the TV installed. Looks and Works like a charm. No issues so far. Hooked the Xbox 360 up to it and it really is sweet. Was able to program the Comcast remote with the code the allows me to control the TV. Also sent the Warranty card back today, since you must send it back in within 30 days of purchase.

    Re: 111308 OMG! $499.99 42” LCD HDTV?!

Comcast Remote Code for the TV...

     TV Setup
    Turn Your TV ON.
Find the codes listed next to the brand of TV.
On the remote, Press and Release the TV key.
Press and hold in the SETUP key, until the TV key flashes twice, then release the SETUP key.
Using the number pad, enter in the first 4-digit code found next to your brand. The TV key will flash twice after the last number entered if this was done correctly.
Aim the remote at your TV and press the Power Key. If the TV turns OFF, you have found the right code. If the TV does not turn OFF, repeat steps 3 through 6 using the next code listed for your Brand

The code that works for me is 0056. I still have to switch from hdmi-composite with the original remote.

Bought, received, installed and impressed!  Newegg delivered a great buy here.  The 720p issue?  What issue?  First, on a 42" screen anything more is wasted and 720p is what HD broadcasts are delivering these days.
