    Blue tooth Transfer rate

I have recently purchased a serial 9-pin RS-232 bluetooth adapter for a vinyl cutter/plotter. I purchased a usb bluetooth adapter for my computer. I intended the connection to act like a virtual serial connection between my computer and cutter. I have the baud rate on the cutter set to its max at the 38400 setting and likewise on the computer. The data file transfer just fine over to the cutter, but it transfers SO SLOW: It took two minutes just to cut a 3cm radius circle. I've contacted Summa support, the cutter company, and they could not understand why I was having the problems I was having with the baud rate set to the max on the machine. They hypothesized that it must have been the bluetooth setup, but they themselves don't have much experience with connecting their devices with the bluetooth technology. Does anyone here have any idea why this would be happening? ANY help would be great!!!

    Thank You

Set the baud rate to 9600. Remember RS-232 has been around sense 1969,

Here is a read up that you can use as well

Forgive me for asking this question, but wouldn't setting the baud rate lower cause it run even slower? I don't know much about this, so any explaination would be most appreciative.

    Re: Blue tooth Transfer rate

Yes it will be slower how ever that is Serial for ya, they were never fast and its very old technology from the 60's. And has not changed sense then.

    Re: Blue tooth Transfer rate

I'm sorry, I'm really slow. My problem is that data seems to transfer slowly, even for a simple vector graphic composed of a single circle, when the baud rate is set to the maximum. How would lowering the baud rate help me solve my problem? I have done the calculations, and for the file I'm sending to the cutter, under the current baud rate of 38400, it should take less then a second. It takes 2 minutes. How would lowering the baud rate help this?

    Re: Blue tooth Transfer rate

Lowing the baud rate will increases satiability with the connection. Serial was not meant to be fast at all. Serial is the slowest communication port on the PC.

    Re: Blue tooth Transfer rate

is your bluetooth software recent?  Is the signal quality good?

Also, lowering the baud rate may help i think.  Pushing the limits of the rate can maybe make it unstable and have to re-send the data.  Same if you have bad signal quality.

Maybe see if you can get something like a USB to RS232 to see if you can cut out the lag.  Unless you like the wireless.

Another setting you can play with is the flow control.  See if that does anything.

    this is a head scratcher.

    Re: Blue tooth Transfer rate

knowing the "class" of the bluetooth device will help tell what its capable-of.

    what make model is it.
