This forum doesn't usually more that fast so posting "nobody?" posts isn't going to get you anywhere.

I'm not certain it works the same way with AMD, but let me tell you how it goes with Intel processors. You only need your RAM to run twice as fast as your divided FSB. For example, if you had Intel's expensive QX9770 processor and didn't overclock, since your divided FSB would be at 400, you would need your RAM to only be  at 800 (Dual Data). Anything above that is just bandwidth that your CPU can't tap into. Therefore, you don't really need to OC your RAM.

2x Powercolor Radeon HD 4870 512 MB (work in progress flashed to Asus TOP 4870 BIOS)

    Re: OC ing the ram

Depending on the AMD CPU that you have in there  the memory divider is chosen based on what multiplier your cpu is on say your where on 10.5x  it would choose  cpu/6

default bus speed  of  (200x4= 800) which equal your FSB of 800   that setting in your bios that lets you change the ram mhz to 1066  would be  266x4=1066 (FSB of  1066)

This isn't achievable with the ram that you have you would have to increase the voltage and really play with the latency of the timings to even get close to what you are trying to achieve.  yes alot of ddr2 800 can scale to 1000 or even 1066 but those usually are CAS4 modules and even those require more voltage and more loosened timings to do it.

yours are 5-4-4-15  @ ddr2 800  so i don't see it being able to hit 1066 but i do think 950mhz is still achievable but you would have to do it manually by increasing the Bus speed clock through (trail and error)  GL. :P

    AMD 64 4200x2 Tunniq HSF 31c idle 47c load @ 3.1ghz 24/7 stable g-skill ddr2 800 @ 1043mhz 5-5-5-15 ATI 3850 MSNSLI -Deluxe 3x 250gig WD 16mb cache 7200rpm, Windows XP pro sp3 , vista = kr@p

    Re: OC ing the ram

not a good idea to overclock it. To increase voltage might do the trick but it is risky.

    ddr2 800 will be fine.
