looking for a new mp3 player

ok my zune just died so I am looking for a new mp3 player.

I am open to all companies and all sizes above 4GB. I would like something supports a large variety of music and video filetypes...and is has a good eq (multi-band graphical or parametric recommended), also something that my computer can recognize as a portable drive (without messing with my registry). I read somewhere sony has a good one. Any other suggestions?

Wow~ Didn't last long did it?

You should check out some of iRiver's products... I haven't owned one in years, but I think they have what you're looking for.

What's your budget? We have lots of choice on Newegg, but they have got a large price

differences as well. Personally, I think zune, ipod and creative are all good choices. I think

you will get more advice here if you can tell us your budgets.

    *Gasp*

How can someone not want an iPod?!

Haha, just kidding. I actually own a Zune myself and love it. Before you go buy another mp3 player though... you did check if you still have an active warranty for your current Zune, right?

He was looking for one with a good equalizer built-in..  As far as I know, the iPods don't have one (Correct me if I'm wrong as I only own a shuffle).  The EQ in my iRiver iMP-550 was absolutely amazing, but the drive motor for the CD died after a few years. That's when I got my iPod which I love to death..  I'm not big on equalizers while mobile, but I do love 'em.

you could try and find an Ipod 5th gen and then install rockbox on it http://www.rockbox.org/ it's what I did with mine and it has an amazing equalizer and an incredibly diverse set of options for how you want your music to sound.

Re: looking for a new mp3 player

I'm on my 3rd Sansa MP3 players (went from 512mb to 1gb then to 4gb... The old ones still works fine, but I wanted more storage!)

They're pretty good players, cheaper than many others, and they have an equalizer too! The latest I bought is an officially refurbished by Sandisk player, but it looks like new. They put a new case on it, so it looks like new, no scratch at all (really, it's a 100% new case..) It's an e200 series. This model is getting a little bit old, but they new one are out.

    Sansa E260 (4gb) - 48$   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855125012

You can also add MicroSD card to get more space!

I just can't say enough good things about the Cowon iAudio 7.It has16GB, plays most formats, built in eq, tons of other extras.  It pretty much does it all as long as you're using it just for music. As far as ipod, I have the same opinion as most others. Look around to see what I mean.

Hey if you want a long lasting, good equlizer, and a good price. Here it is!

    http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/sony-nwz-a818-8gb/4505-6490_7-32593873.html

I have one of these for a year now the only downside I see is that it uses windows media player. The eqilizer is awsome. It has around 8 presets and then 2 custom ones.
