    Up convert

You know how you can buy a dvd player that has the ability to upconvert you old dvd movie. When you watch the movie, it almost like you are watching it in hi definition. Is there a player I can install in my new build that will give me that same effect ? Thanks

    Re: Up convert

"HD" means "High Definition"..."GFX" is graphics card

Your pretty much looking for a nVidea "9800" Graphics card or ATI 38xx or 4xxx series Graphics card. If you pruchase on of these, you will get your "upconverting"

The ATI 4850 is THE card to buy right now, but you can easily get an ATI 4650 for MUCH less $$ and it will work well also.

    Re: Up convert

Unless you're outputting it to your TV and you need HDMI or something you don't need special video cards to upconvert on your computer. The latest versions of PowerDVD and WinDVD support this feature.
