    server help (does this go here?)

    hi, im newish to servers and stuff like that, and i would like to run a garrys mod server from my house. i have a bunch of spare parts around( CPU, case and some RAM) and i was wondering if i could build a server out of regular computer parts. i would like it to run about 20 players.

    P.S I put it in the build forum since im building a server and i couldnt find a server tab.

    You should be able to without out any problems. Garry's mod can get pretty demanding though especially with 20 players so they better be pretty good spare parts. Are the items in your sig your current computer or the parts you will be using?

    those are the spare parts, but how do i make it a server?

    Won't be as good as a regular server (of course, it depends on what you have). The most important thing is the operating system

    it doesn't take much. You should be able to google directions on setting up a dedicated gmod server. In short you are going to need another steam account with hl2 and gmod (if you want to play while the server is running). Forward some ports to the servers ip and select the option to run as a dedicated server if available if not google will have the console comands for you.
