So I can't find any info for wattage requirements for my upcoming build. All the wattage calculators yield different results. I've tried manuf websites for individual requirements on wattage needs. Like for the video cards. well here it is:

- Antec 900 case with all the fans including 2 additional ones (4 X 120mm fans with LED's and one 120mm with out LED and a 200mm fan)
- Rocket Fish 700 watt PSU
- 2 X 640GB WD harddrives 7200 RPM ATA 3Gbs RAID 1
- One Asus w/ Lightscribe DVD Burner
- SAPPHIRE 100226L Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready
- MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX
- G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
- AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz Socket AM2+ 140W Quad-Core
- ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

Mainly concerned about powering everything. and any additional ideas or recommendations are also welcome. This is my first build. Thanks in advance for the help

 

Go with a good 750w for that, especially if you ever crossfire or OC it.

And "rocketfish" is not "good", lol

 

Usually you can go to the manufactures page and find details on hardware (ie watts requirements).  700 watt PSU should hold you over with plenty of room to spare with that setup.  I’m sure 550 watt would work just fine also in fact. 

 

I have never heard of Rocket Fish for a PSU.  Make sure you get a top quality power supply.  It is VERY critical to system performance and stability.  I like the new Corsair’s.

700 and 750 watt seem overkill to me (unless you are building a beast)

This is what I just got done building with a 550 watt PSU.  Runs like a CHAMP!

Your not running half the system he is.

your CPU is 45w lower, video card is  lower as well what if he crossfires? lol ............... does not apply to his system.

Thanks two times GMSCOOL. I appreciate both replies. Yeah I am running Crossfire, I will OC that 9950 to 3.0 Ghz and I am running just more watt requirements. Thanks anyways Randall. I think I will go with something around 800watts to extend the life of the PSU and keep  it more stable and for possible expansion. Thanks

Yeah if you go crossfire then you def. need at least 750.  I didn't pay attention earlier to the specs of that video card and that you were going to do so much overclocking.  oops.... lol

 

ps  make sure you stick with a reputable brand !!
