    Antec 900

How do we get a good air flow within the Antec 900? It has 4 fans, so i guess the 2 in front sucks, and the one in the back and top exhausts? How do we tell which way the fan blows?

    Re: Antec 900

the antec 900s fans are already facing the way that you specified. if you wanted to flip the direction youd have to take out the drive bay and flip the fan itself.

i have the 900 myself and i have the 2 front fans, the side fan, and the middle HDD cage fan as intake and i have the rear and the top for exhaust.

The 900 has a side fan? I thought it was only a vent.

    Re: Antec 900

Unscrewing the screws holding the vent on yields an 80mm fan slot.

Vent is probably more marketable, or something.

That's the way to do it. Yes

    Re: Antec 900

The 900 is a great case for cooling.  The only problem with it, IMHO, is that the PSU is on the bottom, causing you to have to route the 8pin CPU power cable through the middle of the case, generally over the vid card.  This can be changed with the Startech 8pin to 8pin CPU extension cord Newegg part no. N82E16812200124 , allowing you to route the CPU power cable up the front of the case.

Does the Antec 900 have better cable management than the NZXT Tempest? or will I have to dremel holes in the motherboard tray?

    Re: Antec 900

For me, the cable management is adequate.  Pretty much got everything I needed out of the way.  Btw I really love this case.  It's real sturdy and the HDD cage is great.  The 200mm top exhaust fan is awesome and all the included fans have 3 speeds.  Also the bottom mount PSU thing wasnt a big deal for me.  Yes the 4 pin cable goes down the middle of the video card but some mobos have the 24 pin at the bottom so it might not even be a concern for you.

    Re: Antec 900

I didn't realize anyone sold an extender for the 8-pin processor cable. I've built several computers in the Antec 900 case and each time I've made my own cable extender. I've usually found it necessary to extend the cables going to the top/front panel also. As already stated by others in this thread, this is a great airflow case.

I used to have this problem as well, and mine was even worse because my Thermaltake's purepower 600w has a notoriously short 8-pin CPU connector. After some thinking I removed the wire mesh surrounding the cable and was able to thread it underneath my motherboard. Only downside is that if I want to take out the PSU for some reason I'll have to unscrew the motherboard.

    Re: Antec 900

I just completed a build with the 900 and an ASRock P452000R WiFi board, which is a great board with mucho features for the price, but it has all the connectors in odd places - for example, the 24 pin and 8 pin connectors are between the rear ports and the CPU.  I solved this with the Startech connector for the 8 pin connection, routing both that and the 24 pin cable over the top of the PSU and up the back of the case above the expansion card hold-down screws. Because the 900's window is not full-panel, you can't see the cables, and they don't interfere with airflow.  I didn't tighten the pull-ties down all the way, so I can get enough slack forward and back to move the cables out of the way when I need to remove a card.  One other (very minor) con to the 900 is that there is no easy way to anchor a cable mount to the upper left/rear corner of the case.  I had to epoxy one in (I use DEVCON Metal Weld in my business, so I had some handy) but epoxy should work also.

For those of you with this case if you ever pull a stupid or it just shatters here's a source with the OEM 200mm fans http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=327&products_id=21358 direct link to the fans is there. http://www.performance-pcs.com is the main website. (This is an informational post only not an advertisement) I know plenty of folks that have this case and I've read the reviews where some people have been unfortunate enough to break their fans or have them break. here's your solution!

    Re: Antec 900

One thing I did to maximize airflow when I was using the 900, was to remove the HDD Cage in the middle.

This allowed for greater airflow to come from the front intake fan. Also allowed my graphics cards to breathe better. Just my $0.02 Wink

Depending on the shipping costs, you can also buy the fan for $25 straight from Antec's Store.
