For those who only use notebooks

Most of you probably know of this, but I just decided to make a post about it. And this is probably less than a tip.

This is tip is mainly for those people who use laptops for everything--home, work, school, light gaming, etc. etc.

I have a 12" laptop with the following specs: 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram, and 128mb GeForce 8400 graphics card. I pretty much use it for everything. One thing that bothered me was that it got sometimes uncomfortable to use, when on it consistently, whether it be studying, essay writing, or even some light gaming.

So what I did to make it more comfortablet was buy addons for it. I bought it an LG wireless keyboard/mouse combo and a 20" LCD panel from Newegg. No matter what kind of keyboard you have on your laptop, a full sized desktop keyboard will always be more comfortable, and having a bigger screen to look at just feels good. The LCD panel hasn't come in yet, but whenever I am at home, I can just simply connect my laptop to the monitr and mouse/keyboard and just tuck my laptop away somewhere and just use the 3 addons. A LOT more comfortable than using a 12" screen with a small keyboard.

I might even buy it some speakers...as this laptop in some sense with its power is like a desktop replacement

I use a 19' LCD in my office but after work I will fool around with my 13' lappy. it is still nice and I am very happy with both of them.I think it is a good idea to get a usb keyboard if you play a lot of games and so on. the Logitech keyboard makes me feel better. :-)

You seem to miss the finer points of docking.   Laptop is used as such about everywhere you care to take it with you.   But when you get home and dock it, you get a full desktop experience without the cost for a full desktop PC - and all your files, work data, internet bookmarks, etc etc etc are right there.   If all your computing needs can be served with a lightweight laptop, this is really the way to go.

The only time i would ever use a laptop is as a terminal to my computer.

Laptops are conviniant, but cost more for the same power on a desktop.

That is exactly what you are paying for in a laptop - convenience of portability.
