Well, I'd not be surprised if it turns into Cellphone-like plans in the future.

Anyways, at the moment, you'd have to be constantly downloading at almost 100KB/s to reach the cap. In which case, the factor of hard drive costs will play a role every month.

Starting Oct. 1, us Comcast users will have a 250GB limit on their internet. This might not hurt too many people, but people who do a lot of music buying/downloading, Movie Trailer/Video watching.  It might hurt a bit.

If you go over the limit they charge for it, and you recieve a letter.  I also read somewhere that if you go over your limit twice within six months. They disconnect it.

Really, I thought at first it was a pure attack against Piracy, and in theory it's a great one. When someone is downloading a lot in their month like 200GB Comcast might rise suspcious and say "What's the downloading, OH! All these movies and stuff.  Well..we should report that".  But in the blog you posted, I also saw. The argument that Internet Television is very popular and it is.  I personally enjoy watching reruns of House M.D. and The Simpson on FOX On-Demand. I'm sure others have sites they favor for their internet TV needs. So, that could be hurting them a bit as well.

 It doesn't matter, because I'm going to keep Cable for a month to see how I fare with downloading and see how much of it I use.  If the cap becomes a problem then I'm switching to DSL.

That is nothing..  sad for us who live out from any major towns or highway.. and satellite internet is our only connection. They cap each plan.. for a 24 hour period. The basic gives you only 200 MB in a 24 hour period. I signed-up for the mid-range plan..  which had 380MB threshold..   but they decided July 1 to change that to only 300MB..  "because they wanted to be more fair" ..  and "Look at our new plans..  faster download speed" -- I don't really care what speed you give me! When M$ comes out with a service pack 3 update of up to 380MB..   I am stuck. Once it hits the threshold (FAP'in).. it goes down to sub dial-up speed..   not even worth trying then.

I wish we could get some DSL or Cable around ... but thats what I get for livin near the mountains and farm country.
