I do not understand why so many people like playing WoW online. Is it for the social factor or just to waste time? It seems pretty anti-productive just to set their doing nothing at all, but that is my own take on the situation. What's your opinion then?

I play WoW because if I didn't, I'd probably just watch TV with that alloted time. I don't let WoW stop me from getting outside if I really want to. At least, opposed to watching TV, you are (possibly) interacting with other people while playing WoW.

I suppose one could argue that you could play a video game for storyline, but WoW has one of the best storylines out there in any game. The lore, outstanding. I could just read about it all day; the way the worlds were created, the titans, the dragon aspects, etc. It's simply epic.

I guess a better reply to all of this would be what you see so negative about it?

I have seen people's lives sucked away just so they can play the game, some people's children (!) have died from neglect, someone playing Counter-Strike 24 hours straight in Korea died; the important thing is to never let any game run your life.

I can understand why a lot of people have played it... it's a really well designed game with a lot of content to explore, it does the mmo genre better than anyone else.

What I can't understand is why people continue to keep playing it. After you hit level 70 and go through the raid instances... that's it. All there is to do is continue doing the same instances day after day, week after week, over and over. Or if you're into PVP, keep doing the same thing in arenas over and over and over endlessly.

I had a lot of fun with WoW when I played it, but once I realized I'm just doing the exact same thing over and over and over it got really old really fast.

I guess my response is I like jet fighter games and it`s the new world jet fighter type!

Nothing like a good old dogfight between planes or a pilot with hair on fire going mach 2 !

Just an old man gamer`s opinon tho!

I dont know maybe they'r having fun in playing it. Personally, blizzard created a fantastic game.  Anyway I m not a fan of playing games all day. But it's really an awesome game to kill time.

and i believe not every WOW player would be like this  haha

World of Warcraft..... huh.  Well i am an avid WoW player, and i love the game.  But as to why, i am not really sure.  When i play, it feels nice when you get a new weapon or a new armor piece.  Just the feeling of becoming more and more powerful.  I don't know if that makes sense to anybody though.

I don't really care for the social aspect that much honestly.  I mean if you live on the other side of the country, why would i care to socialize with you that much?  I suppose it is just a way to kill time.  Instead of watching TV or something like that, i just hop on WoW.  

And yeah, it does get boring, i do get sick of it.  Sometimes i wonder why i play the game at all.  But then i think, what else am i supposed to do?  So i always go back to playing after a 2 week break or so.
