I play WoW because if I didn't, I'd probably just watch TV with that alloted time. I don't let WoW stop me from getting outside if I really want to. At least, opposed to watching TV, you are (possibly) interacting with other people while playing WoW.
I suppose one could argue that you could play a video game for storyline, but WoW has one of the best storylines out there in any game. The lore, outstanding. I could just read about it all day; the way the worlds were created, the titans, the dragon aspects, etc. It's simply epic.
I guess a better reply to all of this would be what you see so negative about it?
I have seen people's lives sucked away just so they can play the game, some people's children (!) have died from neglect, someone playing Counter-Strike 24 hours straight in Korea died; the important thing is to never let any game run your life.
