How good is Archos' file support on their PMP's?

You can read about what formats they support all day long, but I want to know from people first hand about how well they support .avi files, xvid and divx files. I bought a PS3 because they started supporting divx and xvid, problem was support was very hit and miss. I returned the PS3 a week later. Some files it played, others it didn't. I'd appreciate anyone who has experience with these players sharing their experiences. I'm looking at buying the newly announced Archos 5 or Archos 7. But if it doesn't support Divx/Xvid very well, it's a deal breaker.

I really wouldn't recommend buying an Archos.  I had a 605 wifi, it could do a lot of different things but nothing very good.  It had a lot of bugs and would develop problems like not being able to play any files that it used to and the only way to fix it was to reformat it.
