    Website in Flash...

Anyone know if it's possible to have a website built in flash, but not need Adobe Flash to update it's content? I remember seeing a template a while back that did this, but now I cant remember where or what it was.

    Thanks!

If you only want the effect of flash, you can consider about ajax, which can achieve the

same effect with flash, and it is also much lighter than flash. However, ajax requires a

good skill on javascript and knowledge of xml.

If what you need if flash, and don’t want Adobe flash to update it, I’m afraid it’s hard to

achieve. The reason is that most of the time, you can’t modify the flash file which has

been compiled. You can only modify and re-compile the source file to generate a new flash

    file.

Yes, it can be done. Simple enough through XML parsing.. which can be either a static file read off the web server, or data pulled from a database. The original template and design can be done in Flash, but the content can be pulled any resource. Simple example: Everett Community College http://www.everettcc.edu -- The front flash file is very small (just an outline) and calls an xml file which tells it what image to use, how many seconds, and what text and link to show. It then cycles down the next nodes in the XML. Another way is have any kind of dynamic programming which can parse out data..  in which you just tell the flash to look at that file for data. I did that once with ColdFusion as a comma deliminated file. It read in 400 arrays which displayed on the flash as a class schedule.

Look out there for Flash and XML. This will give you a basic ground..  so if you create a Flash site for a client, you can give them either a basic XML file to update..  or have the data run through a database.
