Extracting and displaying Google Calendar data...

First, greetings!  My son says this is an excellent forum!

At my church we use Google Calendar.  I was told there is a way to use PHP to automatically extract and display the calendar data on our site's front page, with bullet points, and the events would appear and disappear automatically.  What I found I do not understand as I am not a programmer.  Anyone know how to do this?  I did try and look it up on the web but I don't understand what I see...

About that... it's not a user level task, it *IS* a programmer level task (any "messing about with PHP ultimately is).

you just can't drag/drop or copy/paste it, it's all about coding for what you're asking about.

Perhaps one of your church members is a programmer and could donate some time?

    Hi.

I will suggest maybe reading the PHP section at W3Schools. Google that and you will find their amazing website. I work in web development/programming and even though a calender is a simple project for a professional, it however is a major task for anybody who is not into " programming " and does not understand the concepts of exactly how coding works. I think next to W3Schools, searching for a web design forum would be a good idea. However not many programmers will just give out their own coding for free. Coding puts food on our table. I hope I dont come across a bit to abrasive, but I do believe you may be a bit out of your depth with this. One wrong move with coding and you could wipe an entire website or destroy the layout. Hope you find you answers though.

ya.. this is a programming thing. You can only go so far in Google's Calendar API.. and see there is a lot there to extract the data.. . but you will need to know some basic programming.

However you can go look at some of the examples they have.. and see what you can do: http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/ -- this guides you through some basics.. and even gives some examples.
