    iPod playback issues

My iPod recently started having strange problems with audio playback, i have tried several different pairs of headphones and in every pair the right headphone will not work. However, if i pull the 3.5 plugin out from the ipod just a little bit, both headphones work. This gets quite annoying, as it is difficult for the jack to stay exactly where it needs to be. Does anyone have any idea as to how i can fix this? i have attempted updating itunes, the ipod software, restoring the ipod, and have attempted all of these things 2 or more times. Any suggestions?

    Re: iPod playback issues

I noticed the same issue with my iPod a few months ago. I think the issue isn't related to the software though, I am pretty sure that the issue is caused by the jack on the iPod not making proper contact with the headphone plugin. To me this seems like the only real explanation, and the only way I could think to fix it is to take the iPod apart and adjust the contacts in the jack, which I haven't tried yet. Someone else might have had this issue and have some good advice for repairing. If its still under warranty you could always send it in to Apple, just make sure to have a back up of all your music if you do that, because they clear it.

Your ipod headphone jack has a short in it.   If its under warranty I'd call apple and see if they can fix it for you.   The only other way is to replace the headphone jack there a few places that show how to do that if you google it.

Radioshack sells those jacks for $2.00 I think.   I replaced a headphone jack in my sony walkman disc player a while back like that.

Technically its called an "open" in the circuit.  nad the solider connection is loose on the jack which is why when you raise it you get a signal and put it all the way in it doesn't work and the sound cuts off.
