can't believe I'm asking this...

    can't believe I'm asking this...

Soooooo........I think I'm finally going back to ATI. Yes, after all my ATI hating, I'm pretty convinced that I'm gonna go back. Most likely gonna buy a 4870 on Black Friday.

However, I can't tell much of a difference between these cards. The reason I'm confused is because some of the cards list the memory clock in GHz and some in Gbps. Is that just because of an error? Freaking MSI can't even list a core clock speed, ffs. I've only ever had a Sapphire card (in fact, that was the only ATI graphics card I ever owned) so I'd normally go with that, but aside from the Asus card being 20 bucks cheaper, I can't for the life of me tell the difference between these cards.

Also, please check out my sig below to make sure I'm good with PSU/monitor, etc. I realize that my mobo is PCIe 1.0 and SLI-enabled, but I'm not upgrading my board until it dies or I get an i7 CPU. Unless, of course, I can get a kick-a** board for a clutch price on Black Friday.

Also, also: I use this computer for a lot: video/photo editing, everyday stuff, and high-end gaming. My SLI-ed 8600GTs have served me well, but I'm afraid that they won't play Fallout 3 too well. They can do Crysis okay at 1024x768 (I think that's the res I use). My monitor can do 2048x1536, a res I've never heard of before, but I keep it at 1280x1024. I may get a new one on Black Friday (suggestions welcome), but I don't care if I'm playing at 19-something x whatever. So if this isn't the card for me, let me know. I use two of my PCI slots, one for my sound card and the other for a wireless NIC

    Thanks-amundo

difference between these cards is brand so far all of then RAMDAC, Mem clock, Bit, ect are all the same. Your PSU will be fine that is enough there at 750Watts and its a great PSU as well.

ATI and NVIDIA become more or less personal choice do what you think is best.

Re: can't believe I'm asking this...

All of the cards you listed have the same memory clock and core clock. Based on that I would purchase either the cheapest card, or the card with the best warranty. Cheers!

Re: can't believe I'm asking this...

So I realized I have something else I need to check. My case (NZXT Zero) is 20.9" deep (front to back). Right next to the motherboard, at the front, is a cage for the hdds, which faces out of the case (not towards the mobo like some do). Will there be enough room for a longer GPU? I can't find one that lists its dimensions.

Re: can't believe I'm asking this...

Measure and see. (you have the case already right?)

The longest video card that I know of is almost 11 inches long, so if you have 11 inches, you can fit just about anything.

Yes, I have the case. I just was unable to find dimensions of the card

Did you measure it at all from the install bracket to the HDD cage?

Stop saying "similar case", similar case will most likely not have exactly the same dimensions as your case.

Dude, chill the f**k out. It gives people a baseline to go off of. My case is 20.9" deep (or thereabouts) so if someone else has a  20.9" case, and see the card fits in mine, then they known it's worthwhile to investigate more in-depth.

Well what he means is that even though your case is 20.9" in length the inside will not be the same as any other case. You can not go by the out side length, it not likely you will install the card out side. Unless there is some really big card that can do this which is not likely at all.

Well he did not fly off the handle at all considering that he did not cuss at you or be little you at any point. All SergieiV was doing was pointing out the obvious is all.

Eh, whatever. I'm just going to let it drop. It's silly and pointless arguing over the internet, or even arguing in general. I used the wrong turn of phrase (spoke incorrectly, however you'd like to view it), and that's all there is to it
