Asus P5K-VM Won't Boot After First Time

    Hello all,

I have 2 ASUS barebones units with P5K-VM motherboard inside an Asus case with preinstalled PSU. I tried installing my Core 2 Duo, SATA hardrive, Kingston RAM, and a PNY PCI-e video card in the unit.

It booted up fine the first time and posted. It detected my new hardware and prompted me to press F2 to complete the BIOS setup. At that point, it froze. After I turned the computer off, it will no longer post; there are no beeps and no video signal.

The exact same thing was replicated on my second unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Eric

If you were fiddling with anything in your case, you might have just dislodged the power wire from the case the mobo.

Clear the CMOS and try setting them to defaults. I bet your ram is at a voltage the board doesn't like. Also maybe you need a BIOS update before it will use that CPU.

We'll need to know you full specs before we can really help.
