Take a look through my thread of different budget builds.  In it I've got a couple different options at $1100 that you can look at to kind of get an idea of what to get.

Re: Help on building a gaming rig

If the price is still to high you could go with the 7X00 series cpu or find a cheaper case, as for led lights or cold cathode lighting here is a good place to look.

The only noise is the fans and the loudness you set the volume to for your speakers unless you plan on using headsets. Add to that the ODD spinning up when you have a disc installed in it so I would guess around 35-45 decibals at the most.

HH, I think he is referencing to the PSU, and that is a concern with the older 80 mm fan PSU's ..Those units will make you deaf..

There is nothing silent about a silencer.

Look fox I know what he was talking about and that was the noise the whole computer put out, so when I said fans I was including the PSU fan as well and yes the 80mm ones from 4-5 years ago were noisey but the newer ones are no where near as bad and if you intend to recomend that one you are so hot about tell us what's in your rigg.Wink

It depends upon the rig that you are talking about,  the one I just built Has A BFG ES 800 My Other Machine has a Silverstone DA700 they all have 120+ mm fans

but since you seem partial to the OCZ Group.. They have some that are decent units also..

Re: Help on building a gaming rig

Why thank you fox but it is not so much OCZ that I am partial too it was the PC P&C before they were bought out by OCZ. They were of the highest quality back then and seem to be holding to that standerd still, I also recomend Corsair and Silverstone mainly cause I'm partial to single rail PSUs.
