What do you think of this MB? BIOSTAR TForce TF720 A2+ AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 720a. with a Athlon 64 x2 5000+ Brisban?? Any thoughs of a better board of the same cost?

Do you know of any better full ATX boards.  I'm not fond of the Micro ATX format.

What will you be doing and do you want crossfire or SLI? also are you looking to upgrade to a quad or even tri core later on? The AM3 will be out some time in December or first quarter of 2009 as well which will lower the AM2/AM2+ boards as well.

There is plenty I can recommend but not knowing what your needs are or will be later on kind of puts everything on hold. If you can fill me in a little bit that could help.

I presently have a Athlon Sempron 2600+ 1.8 Ghz in a Biostar M7VIG 400 running 1 GB of RAM. I have two HHD's (1) Maxtor 120 GB & (1) Quantium Fireball 20 GB. My video card is a GeForce 6200. My sound comes from a SB Live card. I want to reuse the case that has been through several upgardes.

 I play BF 2, C&C Generals, & HL2 based games, surf the web and use MS office 2007.  In general a mixed use platform.  I would like to be able to play some or most of my game at high level without much noticible lag.

I plan on building a quad core system that will not kill my small budget.  I planned on purchasing a MB that is AM2/AM2+  with 2 GB of RAM with onboard video like the one I listed on the orignal post.  I though a Athlon XP x2 5000+ would be good along with the board I listed on the orginal post. I'm sure the GeForce 8100 is a big improvement over what I have and I though the board supported SLI with the onboard video. I would more then likely use the SB Live in the new system also.

Not bad parts at all really. I would suggest to save up some as well so that you can get the mobo and the CPU with good quality and a PSU also reason is if you upgrade the video card late on it will cost you both the PSU and the video card.

 

Well just upgrade one part at a time and get what you can now would be the best way to go. I do that all the time. The 5000+ is nice and will help out but also get a good motherboard that will last you as well so that you do not have to upgrade that later on. With onboard video you will see lag vs a real video card especially in BF2 and BF2142, I play both. Get something like a Gigabyte ASUS or MSI that is AM2/AM2+ even with the 5000+.

 

I decided to purchase the Biostar TForce TF8200 with the built in 8200 GeForce Video.  It seemed to be a better board. Any thoughs on it.
