I'm in the market for a new system and just need a little clarification on crossfire/sli. I found some nice mobos that say they support crossfire or sli. If I for example buy a mobo that supports crossfire, and buy an nvidia card, I could use a single nvidia card on this mobo, but would not be able to link up two cards to this motherboard. Or would I be able to use two nvidia cards on a crossfire supported motherboard? Thanks.

My understanding of this is that w/ SLI you can hook up 2 nVidia cards together.  Crossfire is for doing the same w/ ATI cards.  W/ a single vid card you should be able to use nVidia or ATI on a mobo regardless of SLI/Crossfire support.

Many of the new main boards that will run the new Core I7 (X58 chipset) will run both SLI and Crossfire. Other than those you will have to buy the correct type of main board to go along with your video cards.
