    Genealogy resources

Has anyone gone through the trouble of tracing their ancestry?   I have started, but not sure where it will take me.  I'm interested in late 1800's early 1900's immigrants.

Anyway I'd thought I start a thread where we can list resources.

    http://ellisisland.org/

    I'd welcome any additions.

    Thanks...Homer

    Bump...

Surely somebody has tried this.....any resources you can recommend would be appreciated...and could help others.

I went to EllisIsland.org.... very nice...found my grandpa...which is amazing.  Problem is that the records were translated from handwriting....some seem incomplete.   Not only are you dealing with transcription errors, you are dealing with the American clerks  at the time trying to interpret people who could not read or write and who spoke only their own native tongue.
