Question on folder window view settings on Vista64

Hello, I am a new user to Vista64 (Home Premium OEM).

I am having trouble getting Vista to NOT change my custom folder window view settings back to whatever Vista wants/thinks it should be. Yes, in folder options, view tab, I have "Remember each folder's view settings" checked. I have tried un-checking it, apply & close all windows, then resetting all folders, then re-checking "Remember each folder's view settings" again, apply & close all windows again, then opening a folder window & redoing my custom folder view settings, but to no avail. Sometimes Vista resets it to the way it wants it as soon as closing the window & reopening it. Sometimes it last for a bit, but ALWAYS Vista will get around to resetting it to it's preference over mine. Oh, & this includes resizing my slightly larger than default window back to Vista's default little window & assigning a file type based templet to the folder.

Anybody else have this problem &/or could give me some help with this? I would really appreciate it.

    Update

Well, I ended up doing a re-install (Mostly to clean Windows up from installing my XP programs to see what worked & then un-installing what didn't work, just trying things out. Also got some new hardware, Windows wasn't activated) & knew how my custom window view wasn't going to save my settings, so I didn't bother doing them but it wasn't to long before I just couldn't stand not having them, so I went ahead & set up my custom window view settings (Detailed List with just File Name, File Type & File Size) but did not change the default window size & to my surprise, my custom view has been sticking around. No changing back to large icons, no issues what soever.

For the previous installation, I also had a few other custom settings, like no window animations (Opening, Closing, Minimizing & so forth), no fade in/out balloon tips, no sliding menus, I just had everything set on instant, either there or not there. Also I had a custom power setting. I had the gadgets bar enabled. I even tried the Classic View (Which didn't help out on keeping my custom window view).

For this current installation, I have made no custom settings other than my Detailed List window view & like I said, it's been sticking around with no issues. & I guess disabling some startup programs & the gadgets bar. I don't know if it was the window sizing that made it buggy last installation, or if there's just no bugs this installation & maybe I could go ahead & change my window size to a more preferable size or if any of the custom setting done on the last install had anything to do with it. But it's saving this install, YEA!
