Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
cg49me:chocobo is getting warm... Think clockwise.
I'm not getting that warm, I see no consistent pattern from here on. Trying to force the answer to work, I can do the first few numbers. First row is 5, last column is 1. Then going vertically, the first column is 20 (minus one black square = 19), last row is 9. I noticed that the clues are "first step, second step, third step" and the puzzle looks like steps when it's rearranged. Maybe if you walk up the steps... nope, I got nothing.
Hmm, clockwise. Maybe I'm supposed to rotate the puzzle, or maybe it needs to be changed so that row 1 is on the bottom and row 10 is at the top. Maybe I'm supposed to start at one point and move in a clockwise circle around the puzzle. I have no idea. The puzzle looks like a semaphore flag, and semaphore uses arm motions that resemble a clock... ok I'm pretty sure it's not that... bleh, I'm all out of brain juice.

Clock wise, like, think of a clock, or clockwise, like think of a direction/turn?

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
ok then...
easierseenthansolved = 5 1 19 9 5 18 5 5 14 20 8 1 14 19 15 12 22 5 4 first step - order, second step - beginning, third step - plus or minus. You put the puzzle in order, then you start at the beginning of the "steps" (5,1), then you... I don't know.

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
I can't believe it took me this long and required this many clues to figure it out. I seriously doubted this puzzle would seem simple and solvable when I saw the answer... but I was totally wrong. 5 - 4 = 1
1 + 18 = 19 19 - 10 = 9
9 - 4 = 5
5 + 13 = 18
18 + 1 = 19
19 - 14 = 5
5 + 0 = 5
5 + 9 = 14
5 1 19 9 5 18 19 5 5 14 = "easierseen" repeat this for the column numbers = "thansolved" Great puzzle... I can't believe how difficult it is, and I can't believe how easy it is, both at the same time. And the fact that one of the corners is 5,1 was a perfect distraction from seeing how it really works, even after knowing the answer.

Bummer. Well, I'm officially back in my school town. That of course means we're back to long droughts between puzzles...

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
I put the columns in order, from the least amount of black boxes (column 20) to the most (column 1). Then I repeated it with the rows from least (row 5) to most (row 9).

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
Hey guys! So it's only been one week of classes, and I'm already stressed. I had a full complement of homework for the holiday weekend, so relaxation was kept at a respectable minimum...
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I'm working on a rather large puzzle that will hopefully span a good part of the remainder of the year. Solving one clue will lead to another, which will lead to another, and so forth. Spaces will be given out for each step that is solved, but the process might be a little more interactive (clues given out in a hot/cold fashion).
Stay tuned - it'll be awhile before this thing starts up...

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
The Prize Box still lives!
The multi-part puzzle is still in the works - the first three parts are conceptually done, the fourth is in the works, and we'll see where it goes from there. I have a feeling the prize on this one will be massive, since it'll involve a fair amount of sleuth work - probably 10 spaces the first week it's up, and one space less for each week it drags on.
I know it's been a long wait, but this puzzle will be worth it!

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
Do I get special PM-ed hints for living just 1-3 hours' drive from you? I'm local... *nudge nudge* XP ya right. Maybe I'll just get EXTREMELY lucky, and find some obscure detail in a post of yours that leads me to guess some random fact I know, like that water isn't wet, or that salamanders aren't lizards. That might be even less likely... XD

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
Afraid not... Nice try though.
As far as Puzzle 11 goes, the concepts are done! Now it's just a matter of getting the graphical parts put together. It's basically four parts, but the second part is pretty much a gimme, and the fourth is a bit of a challenge, so I'll just stick with calling it "multiple parts". The prize scheme will be what I stated in my last post - 10 spaces the first week, one less each week after that. I won't be giving out any clues until it's down to five spaces, and then it'll be a yes/no system similar to what we did for Puzzle 6.
I really can't wait to get this thing up - it's a doozie, if I do say so myself, and those of you that decide to take a stab at it will hopefully have some fun! :)

Doubtful, since I still can not spell schedule or definitely. (It took working spell check to get either one of those.)

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
All but the last part of Puzzle 11 is put together! Of course, the last bit is the most complicated, so it'll be awhile still... *edit* Puzzle 11, not Puzzle 12... Also, starting work on the final part right this instant. The puzzle could be up as early as tonight...

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
PUZZLE 11 At long last! As I said, this baby is worth an insane TEN SPACES!! Since it's only five minutes till midnight in my neck of the woods, I'll go ahead and call it Saturday, thus the winnings for this puzzle will drop down to nine spaces at midnight Saturday/Sunday next week. No help until the prize is down to five spaces (five weeks from now), and then it'll be yes/no questions following the same guidelines as Puzzle 6 (you can have two guesses, two questions, or one guess and one question each day). Good luck! Have fun!

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
I'm thinking, the colors in rainbow order, and then without the spaces and see if anything is noticeable because I don't recognize ALCO or HOL as words. I think the last bit is like one of those letter scrambles in the newspaper, that without order, each real letter was substituted with another. If CG wanted to be mean, each line has a different code, but while he said it would be hard, I doubt just one line is enough to decode. Then again, we have other clues and the repeated word 'swnv' could easily be done as such to make us assume that all the lines use the same code. With the top blocks, I have no clue, but there are some letters that are repeated, and not easily noticed in the others. Q: If you can answer, do the colors matter? Hol isn't a word, right? Alco? Last Q, unrelated to the puzzle- Do you play a non-crossword, non-sudoku, and non-mixed-up-letters, like say, a letter substitution, puzzle in any newspapers? FG: PENNOVA ALCOHOL EARS IG NEAR IN WE SG: Pen of an alcohol earwig near north east indiana

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
To the best of my knowledge (which, as I've proven before, literacy isn't always my strong suit), neither "aclo" or "hol" is a word, at least not a commonly used one, but "alcohol" is most definitely a word. I usually veer away from the crypt-o-quip/cypher puzzles, and go instead for the sudoku. Truth be told I'm not much of a sudoku junkie, either. My favorite puzzles, recently anyway, are writing microcontroller programs in assembly language. I'll also admit that I've been toying with the idea of using a psuedo-programming language in a puzzle, though I haven't found a "good" way to do it yet... No to both the guesses. Be vigilant!

Re: The EggXpert Prize Box
I noticed Alcohol after I started to put the words together by rainbow-order. The two boxes looked like different oranges on another computer, the one I used (using a flash drive with the three images on it) to print, which of course, was black and white only, so I had it remove the backgrounds. Since I didn't know which would come first, I did it both ways, holalco and alcohol when I jammed the boxes together, switching a few for the difference in FG and SG. Then I noticed alcohol and just pulled that sg from what you saw as the FG.... bizarre, I know. I'm not that into Sudoku, but when my mom is doing one, I have a strong urge to look over her shoulder, write one or a few in, then hand it back. :P EDIT: You said there were four parts, but I only see 3 images. ?
