Hehe..   I've always thought that his name was sarcastic..  Everybody knows he's got the best/most expensive hardware on the forums.

Zip it! Ak, I guess you are quick to forget all of the free gifts that were given to you when you made your visit over here!

We are working on getting the gifts sent out shortly.

I believe AK is referencing "Nvidia free gift for voting in this poll" at the start of the thread.

My response would be "Good things come to those who wait patiently."

As for my sarcasm, it's usually dispensed FREE in EggX-Chat, most evenings, since work has so thoughtfully banned me from using EggX from work computers.

    See you fellaz in chat!

    Re: PhysX

Ever tried banning work from banning you from EggXpert Chat? Stick out tongue

Interesting thread, I find PhysX to be a nice idea, but I'm wondering if it'll have scaling issues like with SLi and Crossfire when spanning across multiple GPUs and attempting to utilize them all effeciently...I checked out the Ageia PPU when it was first released and found it to be not worth the money (If they only lowered it by $100, lol) back then in my opinion...Now I'm thinking PhysX has more potential, but it'll still be interesting...

Honestly, PhysX and Havok will start becoming two direct standards in physics engines like DirectX and OpenGL once were for graphics API's (And relatively still are, but DirectX now dominates the market)...But even more so I hope they will be able to both run off of CUDA or AMD/ATI's Stream Computing, allowing game developers to choose either one and the consumers to not have to worry about having an NVIDIA or ATI GPU for a specific game...

Heck, and CUDA/Stream Computing standard between NVIDIA and ATI would be nice to...

Anyways, yep, it's interesting and has potential, but PhysX is still young, and so is CUDA, so who knows...

    Respectfully,

To build a PC or to not build a PC, that is a stupid question...An obvious one too...

    Re: PhysX

I think it could be awesome in physics regarding life like responses to the environment such as getting shot in the leg. Just as an example , if it could calculate the hands to grab the area where he was shot and calculate the spinal movements of bending and twisting and body movements of getting knocked into a wall and bouncing off and falling "without" the use of canned animations.

It sounds like there is alot of calculations that would have to take place but like the evolution of every other technology out there I think it could eventually be fine tuned and perfected, so I think it has alot of potential. So for future references I give it two thumbs up

    Re: PhysX

It works in more than just PhysX programmed games.  I played Company of Heroes on my 8600GT before the PhysX drivers were released and I had textures set on high and physics set on medium as the game recommended.  Then a couple months later when the PhysX enabling drivers were released and the game automatically raised the settings from high to ultra for textures, and from medium to high on physics.  Some other settings may have gone up as well.  Anything that uses physics at all will be able to take advantage of PhysX.

Did they announce the winners for the PhysX contest yet?

    Re: PhysX

physics is a good idea in fact it's weird that it was not more embraced by the game makers and hardware companies earlier.  Although now with 4850 and 4850X2 it would have to be pretty hard to take the price/performance crown, but i'm sure like all things the reign of the 4850/4870 will pass.

also it would be nice to know if I won a gfx card or not I know it's a long shot but someone will win... It could be me... when will I know???
