    Re: cosmos s fan questions

ha your right.. I connected the fan to a port called sys_fan.... when my computer boots the fan is much more quiet when it is connected to that port on the mobo. However I can still not control its speed. Sorry about the confusion hopefully this helped alittle. Also the port(sys_fan) on the computer had 4 pins but my fan connected to only three of them... does that mean anything? Thanks again

OK maybe Speedfan for some reason does not recognize that board or its FAN connections.

As for the 3pin 4pin that does not matter some fans come with either 3or 4 pin.

    Re: cosmos s fan questions

Tracer, just to clarify to the OP. Majority of fans come with either 3-pin motherboard connector or 4-pin molex connector. A 4-pin motherboard connector on the other hand is more rare since it usually comes with fans that are used with heatsinks. That 4-pin motherboard connector is a PWM connector, and to find such fans you have to go to specialty sites like Frozen CPU, since I've not found a fan like that on newegg. I had to do that when replacing the fan in the Tuniq Tower.

Speed fan will not control a 4-pin molex connector since it connects directly to the power supply, and there's no interaction with it through the motherboard/software.

    Re: cosmos s fan questions

He is not talking about the molex connectors at all there are motherboards with Sys_Fan ect that can be 3 - 4 pin that is what he was talking about. And if Speedfan does not detect which has happened even to me the correct Northbridge then it will not work.
